Pros
Athletes would be given some financial freedom and able to help their families out.
Athletes would be compensated for their time and risk of injury.
Instead of salaries players could benefit from their likeness instead, on top of their college scholarships.
Players that don't receive scholarships to participate in their respective sports would then receive a salary to help pay for their college education.
Players may stay longer to receive a full education instead of trying to go pro after a year.
This may help prevent some of the recruitment scandals that go on.
Would allow for athletes to cover medical costs and care. Many athletes suffer injuries and are left to pay their own medical bils
Cons
According to Money.com, a full athletic scholarship at an NCAA Division I university is about 65,000 a year. So a $100,000 salary would only benefit the athlete a few hundred dollars more.
Athletes may not manage money correctly without the help of a professional, which they will not be able to afford.
Most athletes would not make much from merchandise sales.
How would players receive their salaries? Would some make more then others or would it be a flat rate for all of them.
Athletes may not go to class, some already receive grades without doing the work this may add on to that.
Only a handful of sports programs in each college actually bring in money.
Title IX could come into play when it comes to equality and paying males and females the same
